It is surprising to note that the GNU, formed in February 2009, has not finalised implementing the fundamental issues of provincial governors, Reserve Bank, attorney general, security sector reform, Roy Bennett, and ministerial portfolios.
Lenos Mbanje, Birmingham
A recent headline in the electronic media entitled, SA facilitators Leave Empty- Handed after their brief visit, is a clear indicator that, major disagreements stalling the power-sharing government still exist, contrary to what professor A. Mutambara said recently in Chicago, USA. The Professor mentioned that Zimbabwe is know a peaceful and stable country, ready for investors from across the globe, due to the formation of the GNU. The situation on the ground is the exact opposite to what the learned professor would like people to believe. Tensions are already high in many districts of Zimbabwe, with the reestablishment of torture camps in areas which include, Muzarabani, Murehwa, Nyanga, Masvingo, and Bindura. Innocent people are being harassed by Zanu-(PF) militia; houses are being torched whilst the partisan police turn a blind eye. Zanu-(PF) hawks are targeting major industries and mines, which make the backbone of Zimbabwe industry for personal “indigenisation.” The irony of the situation is that recently delegates from the GNU have been dispatched to re-engage the EU. Nothing will come out from the re-engagement as long as there is no progress in implementing the GNU in full. Now is the opportune time to tighten the screws on Mr. Mugabe and his cronies, as they are definitely feeling the pinch as evidenced by their constant howling about the sanctions. Zanu-(PF) is also frustrating all efforts to reform the constitution, as they are conversant of the fact that free and fair elections will result in a snub from the masses. No matter how Mr. Mugabe and his cronies continue to frustrate the full implementation of the GNU, and all other reforms. People of Zimbabwe are ready for CHANGE. Thanks to new technology, all atrocious activities by Mr Mugabe and his henchmen, from Gukurahundi massacre, Murambatsvina, and all the victims of political violence from 2000 up to date, have been well documented. Mr Mugabe and his cronies must have wet their pants, when news of former Nicaragua dictator, Daniel Ortega ,was beamed on any TV networks. Ortega was extradited to France to face trial on charges of human rights abuses. It is a question of time, and Mr. Mugabe is a very likely candidate for The Hague. Elton Chigumbura lifted Zimbabwe with a brutal 76 off 33 balls © Zimbabwe Cricket Zimbabwe 173 for 7 (Chigumbura 76, Johnson 4-23) beat Australia 172 for 7 (Clarke 49) by 1 run Zimbabwe delivered Australia a wake-up call after taking two wickets in the final over to seal a one-run win in their warm-up in St Lucia. Australia were on track chasing Zimbabwe's 173 for 7 when David Warner smashed 72 off 49 and the captain Michael Clarke took them to the verge of victory with 49 from 42. Australia wanted 13 from the final over but the task became too difficult when Clarke was bowled from the second-last ball by Chris Mpofu. Mitchell Johnson was then run-out from a wide and Brett Lee could only manage a bye from the final delivery. It was a practice game but it was Australia's first T20 defeat of the season and it will worry them that they lost so much momentum at the vital stages of the chase. "Obviously we would have liked to have won," Johnson said. "When you come into these practice games you want to be pretty close to your best. It won't be a setback. It's disappointing to lose in a practice match but we've just got to keep going forward." Zimbabwe had relied on Elton Chigumbura to lift them after they were 36 for 4 in the sixth over. Chigumbura quickly provided some substance as he blasted six sixes and five fours in his 76 off 33 balls. Craig Ervine chipped in with a valuable 39 in the stand of 114 that took the side to safety. Lee made an encouraging comeback from his broken thumb with 1 for 13 off four and Johnson led the figures with 4 for 23. Life was not as rosy for Nathan Hauritz, Daniel Christian and Shane Watson, who all went at 12 or more an over. The Australians, who left out Shaun Tait and Cameron White, play a Windward Island XI on Thursday in their last chance to fire before their opening match of the tournament against Pakistan on Sunday. If the experiences below by a credible witness writing from Masvingo are anything to go by, Zanu (PF) and the Joseph Chinotimba's and Major Mzilikazi's of this world will be begging for the National Healing and Reconciliation Ministry to start its work, sooner rather than later. Our writer was recently in Buhera, and her report shows that the violence depicted here in a documentary film, was only a tip of the iceberg of the violence that was actually seen by villagers who dared reject Zanu (PF). But justice is catching up. She writes: I was in Buhera two weeks ago where I attended Senator Muzerengwa’s victory celebrations. I noted that the MDC has so penetrated into the rural area that ZANU PF would not be able to regain its 1980 popularity. In 1980 Masvingo was proudly a one-party (Zanu-PF) province, but MDC has taken Buhera, never to support ZANU PF again, despite all the harassment, rape, murder and violence by ZANU-PF sponsored thugs. It was clear that Buhera constituency is now solidly behind Morgan Tsvangirai, and this includes traditional leaders who attended the MDC function and addressed the 20 000 strong crowd on October 11. There were no less than 200 traditional leaders, including headmen and chiefs. Muzerengwa, a member of the apostolic sect with more than ten wives and 100 children, romped to victory as senator in the last elections on an MDC ticket. His victory was a bitter blow to ZANU PF as Chinotimba had waged a reign of terror in the area, but still lost by a wide margin. Chinotimba and his thugs had killed people, robbed villagers of their livestock and food and raped women. Chinotimba and ZANU PF did their worst and lost elections but Muzerengwa and MDC did their best and won the elections. Being from the city I was surprised at the confidence shown by MDC members during the celebration,; there was no usual fear of having the rally being possibly disrupted by hired Zanu PF thugs. One MDC chairman said ZANU PF no longer has the capacity to terrorise anyone in Buhera. In fact, he said, the people of Buhera were getting protection from a very unlikely quarter, making it impossible for ZANU PF to ever terrorise anyone again. The Avenging Spirit, traditionally known as Ngozi was said to be protecting MDC supporters very effectively. For Ngozi, said the chairman, surely Mugabe has no answer. Those who perpetrated acts of murder before, during and since the June 2000 elections are now being openly haunted by ghosts and the spirits of their victims, and nether Robert Mugabe, nor ZANU PF wanted to see these unfortunate thugs any more.

The spirits and the ghosts are demanding up to 100 heard of cattle per murder victim. There are also serious consequences to the whole family (in some cases the clan) if their demands are not met. The following accounts are true and the names of people involved are real, as I discovered in my own investigations. The spirits of the murdered victims are now up against the murderers who killed them and even Chinotimba cannot deal with this problem. Murder Victim Number 1 - Mr Chokuda In the June 2008 Presidential run off, Mr Chokuda, the headmaster of Murove School, was a Presiding Officer at Chimbudzi Township in Buhera Central Constituency, the same constituency as his school. On the last day of the run off, a ZANU PF thug and also a pastor of Mwazha Church, named Madziturira, lead a group of ZANU PF thugs including Zebedia Manhopo, Xerviar Marwizi, one Basopo and others. Marwizi is a teacher in Buhera and owns a shop at Muzokomba Township. They caused havoc at the polling station and all polling agents fled, but Mr Chokuda stood his ground and refused to run away. The ZANU PF thugs forcibly force marched Chokuda into bushes, brutally assaulting him on the way. He was accused of supporting the MDC. In the bush Mr Chokuda was further assaulted until he died. To cover up, Marwizi and Madziturira hung Chokuda in a tree and left. He was discovered the next day and hastily buried in Zangama Village without any post mortem being done. Chokuda’s avenging spirit (Ngozi) is hitting hard on Basopo. His daughter was possessed by Chokuda’s avenging spirit and the spirit demanded to know why Basopo murdered him (Chokuda). The spirit demanded 65 head of cattle and all the payment Basopo received from Chinotimba and ZANU PF for murdering him. The spirit demanded this through his (Basopo) own daughter. Basopo went to Chinotimba but Chinotimba refused to help him saying that he needs to sort out his problems alone as he never asked him to go and kill people. Basopo took his daughter to Chipinge and performed rituals there. The Ngozi temporarily stopped but a few weeks later the spirits (Chokuda’s) possessed another child, this time his (Basopo’s) brother’s daughter making similar demands on Basopo. This time the spirit threatened the whole Basopo family and on the 25th of September 2009 Basopo paid Chokuda’s family in Zangama village 19 cattle. This payment was presided over by chief Nyashanu and headman Mushumbandaita. The Ngozi said that the balance must be paid this year and was following the next person on its list naming Xavier Marwizi, Madziturira, Munhopo, Charles Tsanana, Amos Marowa and others. These people are in line for serious punishment by Chokuda’s Ngozi. These are in serious trouble and ZANU PF and Chinotimba no longer want anything to do with them. Chinotimba referred them to Kumbirai Kangai whom he said was commanding their group. Kangai never responded to Basopo’s call for help. The moment of truth has come. These people are in trouble. Deep trouble. If Basopo fails to pay the balance then there would be grave consequences for him and his family. Basopo is frantically looking for 30 head of cattle to appease Chokuda’s spirit (Ngozi). Marwizi, Madziturira, Munhopo, Tsanana, Marowa have disappeared.
Murder Victim Number 2: Nyoka Chikuse
On the 18th of June 2009 Chinotimba mobilised youths and women to murder MDC supporters in Buhera constituency. Mobilsed and raring to go were Munhopo, Mai Chimuso, Amos Marowa, Johntime Chingwidzi, and police officers Dick and Chitima from Muzokomba Police Station. Guests at the MDC Senatorial victory celebrations
These were accompanied by over 1 000 youths. This operation was overseen by Colonel Mzilikazi from the Mutiusinazita Command Centre, with Joseph Chinotimba as field Commander. A decision to kill MDC chairman Nyoka Chikuse was made. In a military style operation ZANU PF thugs went and circled the village where Nyoka Chikuse lived. Nyoka Chikuse was MDC chairman for ward 27 of Buhera. MDC supporters ran away into the mountains but Nyoka did not run away. Nyoka was simultaneously attacked by one thousand ZANU PF thugs. He tried to fight back but was overpowered. He ran into his Blair toilet at his homestead and the youths attacked the toilet with stones. Rocks rained on the Blair toilet until its concrete roof collapsed crushing Nyoka Chikuse, breaking his back paralysing him. While he was still alive alive a ZANU PF thug called Tindomuona Magoronya gorged out Chikuse’s two eyes using a Swiss knife. Nyoka became blind immediately. Magoronya used an axe to break Chikuse’s leg and arm bones. They then dragged him (tied behind a 4X4 vehicle) to a base 20 miles away at Mutiusinazita where Colonel Mzilikazi was. At the base was also Mathias Manjokota and Marupia Marowa and others. These were feasting on meat they had confiscated from villagers. On Colonel Muzilikazi’s orders, Nyoka’s body was paraded and villagers were forced to come and see a dead MDC chairman. Those who refused were brutally beaten up. Chinotimba and Madziturira and some youths took Nyoka’s body to Birchnough bridge mortuary. Nyoka did not sleep in the mortuary. He was seen seated in the mortuary, he displaced other bodies and to the horror of hospital staff he was also seen outside the locked mortuary and his body had to be taken back into the mortuary a number of times after mysteriously escaping from there. The avenging spirit of Nyoka Chikuse is now on the war path. His ghost has physically visited Marupiya Marowa, Madziturira, Manhopo and ai Stella Chimiso. Mai Chimiso has been recently divorced by her husband due to this Ngozi affair. After being visited by the Nyoka ghost, Chinotimba called a rally at Mutiusinazita Township on 13 September 2009 and asked youths who are courageous to stand up. He asked those who are courageous to go to Mtisi shop inside a durawall. Chinotimba followed the youths with a n’anga and shouted ‘Nyoka Chikuse vanhu vakakuuraya avo please rega kunditeverera. Teverera vanhu avo siyana neni’ (Nyoko Chikuse these are the people who killed you. Please leave me alone) He said this pointing the group of youths that he had told to go to into Mtisi's shop. After this Chinotimba immediately abandoned the rally got into his car and went to Harare. He has not seen in Buhera South again.
Murder Victim Number 3, Mr Sibamba
In June 2008 ZANU PF set up bases but they wanted food and meat which was not easily available. There was a base at Jori Business Centre. So they started raiding villagers and looting people’s property and livestock for meat. Hungry ZANU PF youths trooped to Mr Sibamba’s house and demanded a goat of their choice. Sibamba told them to go and collect a goat of their choice from the pen. When the youths went to the pen they were attacked by the goat they wanted to rob and one of the thugs (Mahumberu) was seriously injured on the thigh. They were very angry and went back to Sibamba demanding to know why his goat had attacked them accusing him of witchcraft. Sibamba was very badly beaten and taken to the base while being subjected to horrific beatings on the way. At Jori Business Centre, Sibamba was said to have committed a very serious crime and was referred to Mutiusinazita where Chinotimba and Colonel Mzilikazi were, for more serious beatings. This was known as the Mutiusinazita Command Centre. On the way Sibamba said he was tired but he was subjected to more beatings. One ZANU PF thug, Peter Mudekunye took an empty sack (saga) and put cold powdered ashes (madota) and forced his head into the sack. They tied the bag on the neck and subjected him to more brutal beating and this time he was suffocated. Suddenly a black bull appeared and chased Peter Mudekunye (ZANU PF thug) away from Mr Sibamba. When Peter and other youths ran away the bull disappeared. That's when they knew that Mr Sibamba has died. They left his body there and ran away. Some good Samaritans picked up Sibamba’s body and took it to Birchnough Bridge Mortuary.
Sibamba’s sons are in the military and police forces. They went to Muzokomba police Station and they were told that their father was killed by MDC supporters, but they did not take the explanation. They said that the police must find their fathers real killers. One week after this murder Mr Sibamba’s ghost visited Mr Mahumberu (father of the man who was attacked by the goat). Mr Mahumberu knew Sibamba well for decades as they lived in the same area. Mr Mahumberu is a rural business man and has a shop at Chapanduka Business Centre. That is where the Sibamba ghost chose to visit him. Mr Mahumberu was just bringing in his goods into the shop which he had ordered from a wholesaler in Mutare. He left his merchandise in the shop in a haphazard manner, but when he came back the next day the goods were nicely packed on the shelf. While he was still in this surprised state, Sibamba’s ghost appeared in the shop and demanded that Mahumberu would sell one side of the shop and he would sell the other side. The ghost demanded to know why his son participated in his (Sibamba’s) killing. The ghost warned that serious consequences are in the pipeline. The ghost went on to visit Peter Mudekunye and demanded 100 head of cattle but Peter ran away to Masvingo where he has a house in Mucheke Township. Sibamba’s ghost followed the next day and Peter was not at his house in Masvingo. The ghost left a message with neighbours who did not know that they were talking to a ghost. The ghost said that ‘Please tell Peter that I am looking for you. You can run but you cannot hide’ The ghost vanished. Peter received the message, but he has disappeared, with some saying he has gone to South Africa. Chinotimba Chinotimba and ZANU PF do not have an answer for this problem they face. Ngozi is a feared spirit and it is deadly. ZANU PF knows that. There is noone now in Buhera who wants to be used by ZANU PF and disposed to face Ngozi alone by ZANU PF. However there are reports that Chinotimba returned to Buhera last week telling people that if they do not want to be troubled by Ngozi they need to drink a bit of the blood of their victims after murdering them. Chinotimba has forgotten all about AIDS and HIV and is conveniently forgotten that ‘mushonga wengozi kuiripa’ (An avenging spirit is only appeased by paying) When elections come again Chinotimba would lie to youths that if they drink the blood of their murder victims they would be fine, clearly putting the young thugs at risk of the diseases they risk to contract. ZANU PF does not have the interests of anyone at heart. Do not be used to commit crimes by these failed politicians. You would end up like Madziturira, Zebedia Munhopo, Xaviar Marwizi, Basopo, Mai Chimuso, Amos Marowa, Johntime Chingwidzi, police officers Dick and Chitima, Joseph Chinotimba, Colonel Muzilikazi,Tindomuona Magoronya, Mahumberu, Peter Mudekunye who are facing Ngozi alone with their families. Feeding time at the Muzerengwa victory celebration in Buhera last week. Thanks to our Masvingo correspondent.
