The suggestion by Vice President Joice Mujuru at a rally in Mash West that Zimbabwe should seriously consider including the Chinese Yuan among currencies in use in Zimbabwe, has been shot down by a UK-based academic. It is was not immediately clear whether the suggestion was new policy by her party or whether it had been discussed by government economists or departments responsible for economic planning and finance. Mai Mujuru's idea drew wild applause among Mash West Zanu (PF) supporters. Dr Mandla says it does not work. |

African Consolidated Resources' (ACR) extended legal battle over ownership rights to the Marange diamond concessions ended yesterday with the Zimbabwe High Court predictably reversing its earlier judgment, nullifying ACR's license claims on the Chiadzwa diamond fields in Marange. Justice Charles Hungwe's judgement which he reversed himself on the grounds that the company fraudulently acquired the rights, had been ignored by the Minister of Mines and the companies which continued to mine and sell diamonds from the Marange claims. It gives the all clear for Robert Mhlanga (l) and his Zanu (PF) partners to exploit Marange diamonds legally. |

Defending The Indefensible
George Charamba cannot fool us with his pseudo Marxist rhetoric, espoused in this Saturday's Manheru column, published in full here. When Zimbabwe had its first presidential candidate to successfully challenge President Robert Mugabe and come out victorious, one would expect all opposition to join hands to bring about a new political era in Zimbabwe. One would think the emergence of new presidential aspirants would not be an issue considering the fact that their participation only ensures that ZANU PF remains in power. |

The Pastor has reportedly also played similar tricks on the Ghanaian Under 20 football team (the Satellites) and on Premiership footballer Nwankwo Kanu, according to The Ghanaian Journal, which, also claims that he is holding the Ghanain Presidency in his supernatural hands. It is now 13 days since the SADC summit ended on August 17 and there has been no movement on the three outstanding issues which the Summit recommended should be settled within one month.
In fact President Mugabe categorically stated three days after the Summit that he will make no further “concessions”, and would not implement the agreed formula for sharing provincial governorships, until sanctions have been lifted. |
